A historic home renewed through color, craft, and a carefully integrated addition.
This comprehensive rehabilitation took the circa-1936 Colonial Revival house back to its frame and rebuilt the existing structure within its original footprint. The building envelope was waterproofed and reclad in new brick, while a rear addition accommodates the client's program and creates a more connected pattern of daily life.
The architectural work extended throughout the interiors, including trim profiles, cabinetry, fireplace surrounds, and the transitions between rooms. Developed in close collaboration with a homeowner who brought a strong love of color and thoughtful ideas of her own, the palette uses deep blues and greens to give individual rooms distinct character while quieter adjoining spaces maintain continuity. The result is expressive without becoming visually unsettled, balancing the formality of the historic house with a more open and personal way of living.
